Smart City Governance

Cities wanting to create and deliver new digital services and solutions require new governance from budgeting to planning to execution. Smart Cities represent the most important 21st-century megatrend facing municipal governments. There are about 700 cities globally with populations exceeding 500,000. The top 25 cities of the world today account for half of the world’s wealth. The infrastructure investment for cities is forecasted to approach $40 trillion over the next 20 years. It is projected that over 40 global cities will become Smart Cities by the year 2020. The United Nations expects almost doubling of the world’s urban population by 2050 to 5 billion people, while the overall global population will increase to 9 billion.

Smart City Governance (SCG) Framework - The SCG Framework helps cities create and deliver a clear technology governance and alignment process to support the required transformation from selecting and deploying a smart city roadmap successfully. Without universal buy-in and a common perspective throughout the different city departments, no successful transformation will take place.
