Andy Bochman is the Senior Cyber and Energy Strategist at Idaho National Lab. Prior to INL, Andy was a Senior Consultant at CMG and also the founder and principal at Bochman Advisors LLC, a strategic consulting firm committed to increasing energy sector security awareness and preparedness within public and privately held electric utilities and the federal and state organizations that regulate them.
Andy is a frequent speaker, standards developer and adviser on topics at the intersection of smart grid and security governance. Andy was previously with IBM where as Energy Security lead he worked with global energy sector clients and partners to help them meet their security strategy and compliance challenges. Andy has provided expert testimony and analysis on energy sector security standards and gaps to FERC, DOE, NIST, NARUC, and state utility commissions. Andy is a contributor to DOE’s Electric Sector Risk Management Process guide and Electricity Subsector Cybersecurity Capabilities Maturity Model, as well as MIT’s Future of the Grid report, and he is author of “Measure, Manage, Win: The Case for Operational Energy Metrics” published in NDU’s Joint Forces Quarterly.
Andy is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy, where he served as a communications officer and a source selection technical team leader at the Air Force Computer Acquisition Center. Andy was named one of fifty “Smart Grid Pioneers” for 2013, he is a corporate board member of the Industrial Control Systems – Information Sharing and Analysis Center, and a he is member of the Grid Edge Executive Council.
